The files occupy space but there is nothting inside. I also intalled Steam and wanted to "TRY" if the games would work. It does not matter who is causing these issue, but as a user, I am not going to troubleshoot any of these. So, it's a 1 star from me. I just need to run a couple software programs that are windows only and have been stuck between a virtual box or cloud services.

Both seem to have enough lag to put me off of using them on a regular basis. Running windows on this is very smooth. Compared to the other options I have tried this one is the first that feels like an 'apple' solution. Clean, great UI, and just runs smoothly. I plan on purchasing after my trial.

In , upon return to Apple as interim CEO, Steve Jobs terminated the Macintosh clone program while simplifying the computer product lines. If measuring market share by installed base, there were more than 20 million Mac users by , compared to an installed base of around million Windows PCs. In , the release of the iMac G3 all-in-one was a great success, selling , units in days, providing a much needed boost to the ailing Macintosh platform.

Starting in , Apple moved to eliminate CRT displays from its product line as part of aesthetic design and space-saving measures with the iMac G4. However, the new iMac with its flexible LCD flat-panel monitor was considerably more expensive on its debut than the preceding iMac G3, largely due to the higher cost of the LCD technology at the time.

To keep the Macintosh affordable for the education market and due to the obsolescence of the iMac G3, Apple created the eMac in April as the intended successor. However, the eMac's CRT made it relatively bulky and somewhat outdated, while its all-in-one construction meant it could not be expanded to meet consumer demand for larger monitors.

Note that you can choose between installing the Home Edition and Professional Edition but we strongly recommend going with Dragon Professional Edition , not least because it allows you to dictate directly in Microsoft Office and other apps.

This offer is only valid in the US and Canada and will only appear when you go to the Dragon checkout. The only dictation software that comes close to Dragon in terms of accuracy and speech-to-text recognition is Otter.

Otter has many useful touches such as Speaker Identification which is ideal for transcribing Zoom meetings as it automatically detects different voices and transcribes them separately. Otter also allows you to import audio and video files that have already been saved which it will then transcribe automatically. Anything that you speak into Otter can also be recorded for comparing with the transcribed versio.

The Otter free forever plan only allows minutes of audio per month which is enough for occasional dictation. Apple Dictation works in word processors, messenger apps and just about any app that allows you to type. Be aware though that this requires MB of disk space to download some additional tools before it can work on your Mac.

You then simply configure a language and hotkey to start dictation or you can even activate it with a keyword. You can use this to start dictation in any application.

Dictation works with any app including Office applications although not Google Docs which has its own voice recognition feature — see below. What we like is that the voice controlled formatting commands are quite extensive and you can even create your own customized commands.

Not many people are aware that Google Docs has a surprisingly powerful free voice recognition engine which not only transcribes speech to text but also allows you to change the formatting of documents with voice commands.

Probably the most impressive thing though is the an extensive list of commands for formatting text. Note that formatting commands are only available in English but the voice engine recognizes 43 languages. Speechnotes is a cheap and cheerful online speech-to-text service which works in Google Chrome and on Android devices. Rev is only available as an iPhone or Android app though. Similar to Rev is Braina which is both a Siri style personal assistant and dictation app although it only works on Windows, iOS and Android.

However, if you install Windows on your Mac , you could run the Windows version on it. The best option for you obviously depends on whether you want to wear something on your head, walk around, or just speak into a mic next to your Mac.
